The Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business greatly values its relationships with individuals, community organizations and businesses. By supporting the LCWGB, you will play a key role in building up strong female leaders throughout Louisiana. A strong presence of women leaders is vital to the function and continued growth of our businesses and communities.
The Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy is a premiere leadership-building opportunity offered state-wide to young women in grades 9-12. Since the program’s inception seventeen years ago the program has graduated hundreds of entrepreneurs and leaders in the community. The program focuses on communication, networking, teamwork, and building relationships. Participants immerse themself in a real-world mock election, learning from panels of experts and designing their group campaign. Participants stay on campus at Nicholls State University, participate in valuable programming, and leave prepared to take on a leadership role at their high schools. This program is made possible by donors like you ensuring that we leave a legacy of leadership through our program. This program is offered FREE to participants so that no barriers exist that would hinder an eligible young woman from attending LGLA. In 2023 there were over 100 applications received and through increased fundraising efforts we were able to admit 68 young women into the life-changing program.
The Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy, organized through the Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business, is a 501C3 organization housed at Nicholls State University.
