Hon. Lenar Whitney

Representative Lenar L. Whitney is serving her first term in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where she represents her District 53 constituents.  The Houma Republican is a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School and Nicholls State University.

Prior to joining the Legislature, Lenar owned and operated her own dance company since the age of 18. Lenar has a diverse business background, which includes years of sales experience in multimedia and oilfield fabrication sales. She presently works as the Account Executive for AccessCom, a local telecommunications company.

Lenar’s work experience within the community and her conservative values won her the election in 2011. In her first term with the Legislature, she has proven to be an asset to the Republican Party.  She sits on three highly sought-after committees which include Ways and Means, Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, Labor and Industrial Relations, and Health and Welfare. In addition to her legislative roles within the House, Lenar is a member of the Republican Delegation, the Acadiana Delegation and the Women’s Caucus.

Outside of the legislature, Lenar was appointed by the administration to sit on the Oyster Advisory Committee.  She is Vice Chairman of the newly formed five-state Gulf Coast Legislative Council, which is in charge of promoting and encouraging the economic growth and development of America’s Gulf Coast region. In addition, she is honored to be elected and serve as the Louisiana Republican National Committee Woman and is on the Board of Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business at Nicholls State University.

Lenar belongs to St. Gregory Catholic Church and is a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club. She is married to Lee Whitney, owner of Lee Whitney Signs, and she has two children, Celeste and Ryan.
