Sharon Marchand

Sharon Marchand was born and raised in the New Orleans metro area where she attended Archbishop Chapelle High School and the University of New Orleans. Her business career was in the fields of property management and accounting. Since her retirement in 2008, Sharon has focused her life around volunteering for many different organizations than span her interests. She is a lifetime member and volunteer of the Ladies Leukemia League and Cancer Crusaders, and is also a member and supporter of philanthropic community organizations such as St. Elizabeth’s Guild, the Friends of Raintree, and the East Jefferson General Hospital Auxiliary.

Having studied dance throughout her school years, she is very active in promoting the arts through the Ballet Resource and Volunteer Organization of the New Orleans Ballet Association (BRAVO), the Women’s Guilt of the New Orleans Opera Association and the Leading Ladies Guild of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society.

In the civic and political realm, she is a member and volunteer of the Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business, the Republican Woman’s Club of Jefferson Parish, and the Pelican State Pachyderm Club.

Sharon currently resides in Metairie, and is the widow of Metairie businessman Rivers J. Marchand, with whom she shared 34 years living in both Louisiana and Florida. She has one son and three grandsons, ages 6, 12, and 16, who live in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Sharon also enjoys attending the theater, reading and traveling.
